Understanding the materials and construction processes of buildings is essential to comprehending how architectural plans are realized. The technical elements of building construction, such as material selection and application, structural systems, and construction techniques, are the main emphasis of this field of study. It investigates the interactions between many materials, including concrete, steel, wood, and glass, and how these interactions affect a building's overall integrity, toughness, and beauty. Students get vital information that helps them bridge the gap between design concepts and practical implementation by studying building construction and materials. This knowledge enables them to design and construct structures that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also sustainable and useful.

Building Construction And Materials

Project 1 : Material Experience in Architecture:
Structural & Architectural Building Material Applications 

The wide range of applications of materials in building construction is what makes it unique. A building's overall look and impression may be significantly shaped and differentiated by the thoughtful selection and arrangement of certain materials. The aim of this project is to provide me a thorough understanding of how building materials are used in architectural design. I am required to do a thorough case study as part of my learning project, which focuses on the real-world applications of building materials as structural and architectural aspects inside a selected structure. As part of this investigation, it will also be shown how various materials affect the end user's experience in the designated space.I will also go into great detail on how these building materials are installed in order to evaluate my understanding of construction methods. This exercise's main goal is to provide a better comprehension of the reasoning behind the selection of particular materials for various architectural purposes. Through direct interaction with the intrinsic qualities and attributes of these materials, I will acquire significant understanding of the significant impact they have on the overall architecture of buildings.

Our assignment, as a group of seven students, is to perform an extensive case study on an intriguing building in Selangor or Kuala Lumpur. Based on the chosen building, our goal is to list and evaluate five architectural building materials and two structural building materials. One construction material will be chosen to represent how its application has an experience influence on end users. We will also include a thorough demonstration of how to install the selected material. Our project's final product will be shown on a single A1-sized board that has been painstakingly arranged to incorporate every important component.

After doing this assignment, I have a thorough grasp of how construction materials are actually used in architectural design. We were able to identify and examine five architectural and two structural building materials during the course of a comprehensive case study that my group and I conducted on an intriguing structure in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor. This in-depth examination of material selection demonstrated how deliberate decisions and layouts may greatly influence the building's overall look and user experience. Through the analysis of a particular material's experiential influence on end users and the provision of installation details, I enhanced my comprehension of building methodologies and the reasoning behind material selections.

Project 2 : Construction Details – Integration with ADII

With an emphasis on the fine details of building elements, this project aims to evaluate my grasp of building construction through drawings and model-making. Developing an understanding and respect of the intricate relationship between design and technical expertise is one of the main goals. Any design project I work on will depend on my abilities to handle construction techniques, incorporate structural aspects smoothly, and make intelligent material choices. This task also emphasizes how crucial it is to understand the many technical details of building and architectural design.

My final project will heavily rely on the manual drawing I have to do for the ADII project to show that I understand the fundamentals of building. The main goal is to produce a construction section that includes foundation to roof details and a physical model that accurately depicts my project's distinctive design. I also have to create a unique particular detail for this task.

After finishing this assignment, I was able to show that I had a solid grasp of building structure by creating precise drawings and models. By concentrating on the minute details of the construction components, I was able to recognize the complex interplay between technical know-how and design. I made wise material selections, seamlessly integrated structural elements, and effectively handled building procedures. My final project demonstrated my understanding of building principles with a physical model representing the unique design of my project and a construction section from foundation to roof. Furthermore, I produced a unique particular feature that demonstrated my thorough comprehension of construction and architectural design. The significance of technical elements in developing creative and practical architectural solutions was emphasized by this project.

Reflection
 

Completing these two projects has greatly increased my knowledge of building materials and construction procedures. The first assignment required doing a complete case study on building materials, in which I investigated their practical uses as architectural and structural aspects. Analyzing how materials affect user experience and documenting their installation revealed important details about the complex link between material selection and architectural design. This project demonstrated the importance of careful material selection in determining a building's overall appearance and usefulness.
In the second project, I concentrated on specific building concepts, such as sketching and model-making. Creating a building section from foundation to roof, as well as a physical model, highlighted the need of precision and technical understanding in the construction process.This experience highlighted the need of combining design ideals with realistic building approaches. Overall, these projects improved my abilities to combine creative design and scientific knowledge, preparing me for future architectural difficulties.
